We can find the wisdom of nurturing a happy heart at Proverbs 17:22, which states that, “A happy heart is a potent medicine, but a broken spirit dries bones.” Proverbs offer a “recipe” to stimulate health and recovery by letting joy fill our heart as a drug that is not expensive and very effective.
The joy that we bring into the conversation can resolve disputes. Joy can also help us feel peace, even after a stressful test at school or a hard day at work. Laughter between family and friends can create a safe place for us. That’s where we know and feel that we are loved.
Do you need to laugh more as a “potent drug” for your soul? Remember, the Bible encourages you to maintain a happy heart. —Lisa Samra
